PRINCIPLES
AND IMPACT OF BULLYING: If our children are being bullied,
we must find a way to help them cope with it and minimize its
impact. Even if bullying is not a concern in our house, school,
or neighborhood, it is vital to discuss it so our children may
be prepared if it does happen. So what is "bullying"?
Bullying is 1. A form of aggressive behavior in which someone
intentionally and repeatedly causes another person injury or
discomfort. 2. When a person or group repeatedly tries to harm
someone who is weaker or who they think is weaker. Sometimes,
it involves direct attacks, such as hitting, name calling, teasing
or taunting. Sometimes, it is indirect, such as spreading rumors
or trying to make others reject someone. 3. Being aggressive
to another person in a physical, verbal, or relational manner.
It has other common names, such as harassing and terrorizing.
4. Intentional tormenting in physical, verbal, or psychological
ways. It can range from hitting, shoving, name-calling, threats,
and mocking to extorting money and treasured possessions. Some
kids bully by shunning others and spreading rumors about them.
5. Unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children
that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior
is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time.

CULTURAL
DIVERSITY AND SENSITIVITY:
The culture in which we are raised greatly influences our
attitudes, beliefs, values, and behaviors. Our families teach
us how to believe, what to believe and how to treat people who
are different than we are. Depending on family background, nationality,
culture and age, cultural differences can be heavily ingrained
from one generation to another. Studies show that differences
between people within any given nation or culture are much greater
than differences between groups. Education, social standing, religion,
individuality, belief structure, and past experience affect human
behavior and culture.
It is our primary and basic aim to help you develop your ability
to communicate with different cultures.
Have an understanding of the skills and knowledge necessary to
be effective in communicating with different cultures. Our abilities
to communicate successfully encompasses many complexities, skills,
principles, and concepts. The most important communications skill
is our ability to exchange information between ourselves and the
people we assist and serve in a timely and effective manner.

NURSING HOME MINISTRY: The
purpose of offering this course of instruction is help chaplains
and ministers wanted to get involved in nursing home ministry.
Nursing home ministry has been over looked by most chaplains and
ministers for the same reason that many of their families stop
visiting them over a period of time, it can be heart breaking
and stressful. Nursing home ministry is a ministry working with
elderly people who are often confused, depressed and in many cases
dying. Nursing home chaplains have to be dedicated, serious, understanding,
and have the love of Christ in their hearts to reach out to those
who are coming to the end of their lives. Human touch and loving
kindness can help make their day to day lives a little better.

INTERCESSORY
PRAYER: Intercessory Prayer is a very important part of
chaplancy. The course provides guidelines on how to pray, what
to pray for, when not to pray, resources for prayer, international
intercession and factors that hinder prayer. In my years of experience
working as a chaplain I have heard thousands of prayers by good
hearted Chaplains, Ministers and Pastors, many rambled off a prayer
that was obviously rehearsed, or what some seasoned chaplains
call "Canned Prayer". Some saying the same prayer for
everyone they visited no matter what their illness was, or their
needs. I have personally always believed prayer should come from
the heart for the needs of the person or persons we are praying
for at that time. Knowing how to pray and when to pray for a chaplain
and minister is a vital part of their ministry. For
more information, the course objectives, and how to requesting

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CERTIFICATION:

kind of violence at the hands of their husbands or boyfriends
each year. Very few will tell anyone - a friend, a relative, a
neighbor, or the police. Victims of domestic violence come from
all walks of life, all cultures, all income groups, all ages,
all religions. They share feelings of helplessness, isolation,
guilt, fear, and shame. Trained domestic violence facilitators
are needed badly, the court systems are backed up with domestic
violence cases. For
